ELIZABETH, WV – Gov. Jim Justice traveled to Wirt County Middle School / Wirt County Primary Center in Elizabeth today, presenting students and staff with a $50,000 check as winners in Round 3 of the “Do it for Babydog” vaccination sweepstakes.

The Governor brought along his pet English Bulldog and sweepstakes mascot, Babydog, and threw a party for the entire school to celebrate.

“Today is a really special day that we celebrate you,” Gov. Justice said. “We also want to encourage you, and everyone, to get vaccinated.”

The Governor and Babydog then presented school administrators with the check for $50,000.
“This pandemic has been really tough. We wish it was gone,” Gov. Justice added. “We will absolutely get through this and a big part of that is getting vaccinated. I believe wholeheartedly that the more people that are vaccinated, the less people will die. I would hope, at the end of the day, your parents would decide you’re better off if you get vaccinated.”

The event also included remarks by a doctor to talk about the safety and efficacy of vaccines.
In addition to the check and party at WCMS/WCPC, an additional 126 prizes were awarded earlier today as part of the second week of giveaways in “Do it for Babydog: Round 3.”

Khloe Thayer of Cameron won an individual grand prize of a $50,000 Educational Savings Fund, while another 25 young West Virginians each won a $10,000 Educational Savings Fund; a 529 plan managed by the State Treasurer’s Office that will grow over time and be able to be used for any educational-related expenses, not just higher education.

An additional 100 young West Virginians won a Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License.
