Gov. Justice amends special session call to include supplemental appropriations and additional bills

CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice announced today that he is adding an additional 12 bills to the proclamation calling for lawmakers to convene in special session to focus on education betterment.

Included in the governor’s amendment are ten new supplemental appropriation bills, one bill relating to the procurement of construction work performed as part of disaster mitigation or recovery originating from a declared state of emergency, and one bill relating to the Ryan Brown Fund.


Members of the West Virginia House of Delegates are scheduled to convene at the State Capitol on Monday to continue the special session on education betterment in West Virginia.

CHARL​ESTON, WV – Today, Gov. Jim Justice announced that he is adding another bill to the proclamation calling for the West Virginia Legislature to convene in special session to focus on education betterment.

The bill relates to the West Virginia Business Ready Sites Program and was vetoed for technical reasons after the 2019 Legislative Session.

UPDATE: 5/17/2019
CHARLESTON, WV – Today, Gov. Jim Justice announced that he is adding 30 bills to the proclamation calling for the West Virginia Legislature to convene in special session to focus on education betterment.

Included are bills that were vetoed by Gov. Justice after the 2019 Legislative Session for purely technical reasons. After working with lawmakers, the technical errors have been corrected, and the governor is submitting the bills for reconsideration.

Also included are supplemental appropriation bills which, if passed, will allocate additional funds to agencies that have unmet financial needs. Money appropriated by these supplemental bills will be allocated from surplus revenues.​
