  • Advances a unified commitment to excellence and equity in early learning education;
  • Establishes strong foundations for early learning from school readiness through fifth grade;
  • Supports programs to help close the literacy achievement gap by 3rd grade; and

21st Century Community Learning Centers

This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly those who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools.

In response to the Opioid Epidemic, the WV Department of Education will support and collaborate with local education agencies, schools, communities, and families to address the physical, social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of our students Training and Technical Assistance for Educators
