West Virginia School Readiness. School readiness is a comprehensive approach for families, schools and communities to work together to provide all children opportunities to succeed and become lifelong learners.
Student Resources and Support
Initiative's and programs under one umbrella to coordinate services for the whole child and ensures each student has at least one caring adult that keeps them connected to the school system
Communities in Schools surrounds students with a community of support by bringing resources and support inside the school and empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly those who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools.
In response to the Opioid Epidemic, the WV Department of Education will support and collaborate with local education agencies, schools, communities, and families to address the physical, social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of our students.

TeachWV offers support to current and prospective educators as they navigate licensure pathways and become leaders within our state’s public school systems
Educator Development and Support Services supports a network for professional learning by offering multiple pathways for county leaders to provide continual professional growth for teachers
Leadership support provides support and technical assistance to schools and districts with strategic planning, shared leadership practices, and building strong instructional teams
