Charleston, W.Va. – Today, the West Virginia Senate passed three of Governor Patrick Morrisey’s bills aimed at reorganizing state government. They now head back to the House of Delegates for concurrence.
“I pledged to make state government more efficient and accountable to the people we serve, and these bills will help us do just that,” said Governor Morrisey.
- House Bill 2008 will bring the office of Economic Development under the Department of Commerce.
- House Bill 2009 will bring the Department of Arts, Culture and History into the Department of Tourism.
- House Bill 2013 will exempt new hires at the Bureau of Senior Services, the Department of Administration, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Department of Revenue, and the Department of Veterans Assistance from the civil service system.
