“We are excited about the opportunity this program gives us to improve healthcare outcomes across West Virginia while helping more people return to the job and participate in our growing economy,” said Governor Morrisey. “The Rural Health Transformation Program is about taking a broad, systemwide approach to improve healthcare outcomes, supporting providers, embracing innovation, and allowing more West Virginians to return to the workforce.”

Funding opportunities announced to date support efforts to recruit, train, and retain healthcare professionals across West Virginia while also advancing telehealth, healthcare technology, connectivity solutions, and provider support initiatives designed to improve care delivery and reduce administrative burdens.

Governor Morrisey thanked President Donald Trump, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, and officials at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for supporting rural healthcare initiatives and helping provide resources to participating states.

“Strong healthcare systems are essential to building stronger communities and supporting long-term economic growth,” said Governor Morrisey. “As West Virginia continues to compete for jobs and investment, we also have to make sure families can access quality healthcare close to home and that providers have the support they need to deliver care across our state.”

Additional funding opportunities through the Rural Health Transformation Program are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
