Gov. Justice presented his eighth State of the State Address to the West Virginia Legislature on Wednesday evening.
In his final address, Gov. Justice celebrated the monumental progress West Virginia has achieved during his tenure, emphasizing the state's growing momentum in several areas like economic development, infrastructure, and tourism.

He also unveiled a comprehensive tax relief package designed to put money back into the pockets of West Virginians. The plan includes significant reforms to the state’s Social Security income tax, child and dependent care credit, and senior citizen property tax credit.

Gov. Justice announces WVDNR to sponsor 36th annual West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show

Gov. Justice announced that the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is sponsoring the 36th annual West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show in Charleston, where the agency will take orders for its new physical hunting and fishing license cards. The event will take place at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Jan. 19-21.
“As a lifelong hunter and angler, I am very excited to announce the return of this event where hunters and anglers from all walks of life can come together and enjoy the things that so many of us know and love," said Gov. Justice. "I want to encourage everyone to come out and take part in this event and all the fantastic activities and announcements planned for this weekend."

Gov. Justice appoints Tom Clark to 48th District seat in House of Delegates

Gov. Justice announced that he has appointed Tom Clark to the West Virginia House of Delegates 48th District, which serves Greenbrier, Nicholas, and Webster counties, replacing Caleb Hanna, who resigned earlier this month.
“Congratulations to Tom and welcome to the House of Delegates,” Gov. Justice said. “Tom is filling the seat of Caleb Hanna, who is a really, really good man. I know Tom will follow in Caleb’s footsteps and do a fabulous job serving the people of Greenbrier, Nicholas, and Webster counties.”

Gov. Justice appoints JB Akers to 55th District seat in House of Delegates

Gov. Justice announced that he has appointed JB Akers to the West Virginia House of Delegates 55th District, which serves Kanawha County, replacing Moore Capito, who resigned earlier this month.
"JB Akers is a West Virginian who embodies the values of hard work, public service, and a dedication to community," Gov. Justice said. "His experience as a lawyer, combined with his deep understanding of his community, makes him uniquely qualified to lead in the House. I have no doubt he will hit the ground running and be a wonderful representative for his constituents."

Gov. Justice announces Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Title II Grant Awards

Gov. Justice announced that he has awarded $433,551.00 in Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Title II grant awards for eight projects. These funds are awarded to public and private non-profit agencies throughout the state to prevent juvenile delinquency, reduce racial and ethnic disparities, rehabilitate juvenile offenders, and improve the West Virginia juvenile justice system.
These funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and are administered by the Justice and Community Services Section of the West Virginia Division of Administrative Services.

Gov. Justice approves award for next section of Kerens to Parsons paving project on Corridor H

Gov. Justice announced during his 2024 State of the State Address construction for the next section of Corridor H from Kerens to Parsons will soon be underway.
The project will pave all four lanes of a 3.3-mile section of Corridor H from US 219 to the interchange with WV 72 and allow the WVDOH to open a new section of Corridor H to traffic. The project will be paid for with bonds sold through Gov. Justice’s $2.8 billion Roads to Prosperity program.
“I’m excited to announce we've approved another award for Corridor H, and we are getting really close,” Gov. Justice said during his address. “Corridor H, my gracious sakes-a-living, will link up to DC and bring us jobs like you can’t imagine. We need to finish it.”

Gov. Jim Justice announces plans to introduce more elk in West Virginia, expand wildlife tourism

In his State of the State Address on Wednesday, Gov. Jim Justice announced that the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) will introduce 40 new elk to the state’s growing herd in 2024 and create a visitors center and observation tower in Logan County to help tourists and wildlife enthusiasts see these majestic animals in a natural setting.
“As a lifelong sportsman, I am beyond proud of the work the WVDNR has done since I took office to not only restore elk to West Virginia but to manage our growing herd so that folks can enjoy this magnificent native species for years to come,” said Gov. Justice.
