CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice thanked West Virginians for their continued support today after recent poll results released by Morning Consult ranked Gov. Justice as the #6 most popular governor in America.

This comes just days after Gov. Justice thanked West Virginians for a 70% job approval rating in a separate poll by MBE Research.

“To have such passionate and widespread support is an incredible honor,” Gov. Justice said. “It shows that the people of West Virginia really sense that something has changed in this state. Our days of being last in everything coming and going are over. We just keep winning – we’re setting records and making history all the time – and I really believe that the people of this great state can feel that positive momentum. They’re proud of who they are and proud of where they come from, and they should be.”

Under Gov. Justice’s leadership, West Virginia continues to enjoy an unprecedented era of success and prosperity.

Gov. Justice has led the state to a string of consistent budget surpluses by using his lifelong experience as a businessman to make West Virginia a more business-friendly state and by standing behind the energy industry. This fiscal year alone, the state’s revenue surplus has already eclipsed $181 million over just four months. At the same time, West Virginia broke the all-time state record for lowest ever unemployment rate and while also cracking the top-10 states in the nation for quarterly GDP growth.

Investments in the state’s tourism efforts have visitation and intrigue in West Virginia through the roof. West Virginia was recently named a top-10 travel region in the world to visit by Lonely Planet; the only state to earn this prestigious distinction.

The Governor’s Roads to Prosperity program is the state’s largest-ever investment in road maintenance and improvement; after 50 years of neglecting its roads, the state has committed more than $2 billion dollars to fixing them. Gov. Justice recently held a grand opening ceremony for U.S. Route 35, turning what was once known as a “death highway” into another artery for businesses and visitation from the outside world.

Additionally, his Billion-Dollar Broadband Strategy will bring high-speed broadband availability to 200,000 more homes and businesses.

During Gov. Justice’s time in office, teachers and state employees have received their two largest pay raises ever. The state’s Rainy Day Fund now exceeds $1 billion – another record – and its public pension funds are better-funded than they have been in decades. Thanks to Gov. Justice, Veterans now live in West Virginia tax-free and senior citizens do not face state taxes on social security. The Governor has also led West Virginia through a once-in-a-century pandemic, protecting the state’s most vulnerable citizens, and achieving some of the best numbers and lowest fatality rates of any state in the nation.

“Since the day I walked in the door as Governor, I’ve believed in West Virginia, and our team has worked really hard to make it so everyone else could believe in West Virginia too,” Gov. Justice said. “We pulled the rope together and pushed the right buttons. Pretty soon, the success stories started piling up and people everywhere started to truly believe that reaching our sky-high potential might finally be possible. We’re finally on our way to greatness.”
