UPDATE: 4/27/21 CHARLESTON, WV – In accordance with a directive today from the White House, Gov. Jim Justice announces that all United States and West Virginia flags on all State-owned facilities throughout all of West Virginia are to be returned to full-staff.
Flags have been at half-staff since Tuesday, April 20, in honor of former United States Vice President Walter Frederick Mondale.

ORIGINAL STORY: 4/20/21 CHARLESTON, WV – In accordance with President Joe Biden’s proclamation, Gov. Jim Justice has issued a proclamation ordering that all United States and West Virginia flags on all State-owned facilities throughout all of West Virginia remain displayed at half-staff until the day of interment for former United States Vice President Walter Frederick Mondale, of Minnesota.
In accordance with a separate presidential proclamation last week, Gov. Justice had previously ordered all U.S. and State flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. However, as a result of today’s new proclamation, all U.S. and State flags are now to remain at half-staff until further notice.
