CHARLESTON, WV – Chief of Staff Mike Hall read a proclamation today, signed by Governor Jim Justice, declaring March 3, 2020, as West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) Day.
The mission of the WVSOM is to education students from diverse backgrounds as lifelong learners in osteopathic medicine and complementary health related programs; to support and develop graduate medical education training; to advance scientific knowledge through academic, clinical and basic science research; and to promote patient-centered, evidence based medicine.
The proclamation signed by the Governor states that WVSOM is a nationally recognized, full accredited osteopathic medical school that is a national leader among both D.O. and M.D. medical schools in primary care, rural medicine, and family medicine.
Graduates of WVSOM practice medicine in 51 of West Virginia’s 55 counties and in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
