Gov. Justice appoints Ranson Stonestreet as judge for Eleventh Family Court Circuit serving Kanawha County

​CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice has appointed Brittany Ranson Stonestreet, of Charleston, WV, to the Eleventh Family Court Circuit, which serves Kanawha County. Ranson Stonestreet is set to fill the seat that will be vacated by Judge R. Joseph Zak upon his retirement from the bench, effective Dec. 4, 2020.

Ranson Stonestreet has 10 years of concentrated family law experience as an attorney at Lyne Ranson Law Offices in Charleston, West Virginia. Since 2016, she has served as Chair of the national Alimony Committee for the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section. In addition to numerous presentations and published family law articles throughout her career, she also co-authored the book “Divorce in West Virginia: The Legal Process, Your Rights, and What to Expect” in 2015.  

Ranson Stonestreet graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law where she served as the Class of 2010 President and was named to the Order of the Barristers. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from WVU, with minors in political science and business administration. Ranson Stonestreet is an alumna of Capital High School in Charleston.

Ranson Stonestreet’s husband, Matthew Stonestreet, is a consumer attorney at The Giatras Law Firm. They reside in Charleston with their twin daughters.​
