CHARLESTON, WV – In honor of those West Virginians who support the American Red Cross’ mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies, Gov. Jim Justice issued a proclamation Friday, officially designating March 2019 as Red Cross Month in West Virginia.
The Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Ann Urling, read the proclamation to a group of Red Cross members and supporters inside the Governor’s Reception Room at the State Capitol Building.
The Governor’s proclamation noted West Virginia’s long history of helping neighbors in need, including 1,057 local families who received help in the past year after experiencing a disaster, 800 of which were home fires.
