Gov. Justice says he supports SB 13 that will fund racetrack purses, support Horsemen

1/17/2019

CHARLESTON, WV– Gov. Jim Justice said today he supports SB 13 that will allocate funds for racetracks, supporting the state’s horsemen.

“A commitment was made to our horsemen that once the Workers’ Compensation Unfunded Liabilities Fund was funded this money would revert back to them. We need to honor our word. Because our fund is in great shape and because we’ve made great strides increasing efficiencies, promises made should be promises kept,” said Gov. Justice.

“This is how we help grow our state and our tourism industry. SB 13 will do just that and hugely benefit our state’s horse industry and tourism,” Gov. Justice added. “I’m putting my support behind this legislation.”
