Gov. Justice issues statement on death of Charlie Jones

10/21/2019

CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice released the following statement today after the passing of West Virginian Charlie Jones:

"Cathy and I were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Charlie Jones. He embodied the characteristics of a true mountaineer and dedicated his life to making this state better – giving back to the place called home.

Charlie was a friend of mine and a close, personal friend of my dad’s. I still remember planting crops on the farm that he leased to us a long, long time ago. He will be greatly missed. Please join Cathy and I in praying for the entire Jones family as they mourn the loss of a truly great West Virginian."

------------

In 2017, at Jones' 99th Birthday celebration, Gov. Justice honored Jones by presenting him with a Distinguished West Virginian Award.
