Gov. Justice issues letter of support for the continued operation of Wheeling University

8/12/2019

UPDATE: 8/13/2019
CHARLESTON, WV – Today, Gov. Jim Justice issued the following clarification to the letter of support sent yesterday to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission regarding Wheeling University:

"In recent conversations with the Catholic Diocese of West Virginia, my staff misunderstood the amount of money invested by the Diocese to stabilize the future of the University. Over the past few months, the Catholic Diocese of West Virginia has invested $2 million dollars into this important effort. Additional investments into the University, by the Diocese and many other entities, have been made over the past decade.

“I continue to be hopeful that the University will open on schedule this year and remain in operation for years to come for the sake of its students and the surrounding community.”
