CHARLESTON, WV – Today, Gov. Jim Justice appointed Robert William Dunlevy of Wheeling to the West Virginia State Board of Education. Dunlevy replaces Frank Vitale of Monongalia County. Vitale’s term expired earlier this month.
Dunlevy is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. As a student at WVU he was a member of the football team and after graduating he went on to play professional football for the Dallas Cowboys and semi-pro football for the Wheeling Ironmen. He is presently a member of the Development Council for the WVU Athletic Club.
From 1985 to 2005 Dunlevy was an elected member of the Ohio County Board of Education and served as its president from 2003-2005. In 2005 he was appointed to the State Board of Education serving in that capacity until 2014.
He retired from Lincoln Manufacturing of Houston, TX. in 2014 after 17 years of service. He completed 25 years of service on the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley board in 2017 and most recently served as board chairman.
Dunlevy and his wife Connie have three children and six grandchildren.
