CHARLESTON, WV – Gov. Jim Justice said today that he has received notice from and accepted the resignation of Tom Lange as a member of the West Virginia School Building Authority effective July 13, 2018.
In an email sent Wednesday to David L. Roach, executive director of the SBA, Mr. Lange stated that “I have thought a great deal on the changes you have been directed to make and philosophically believe the changes aren’t in the best interest of WV taxpayers. So as of Friday, July 13, I am terminating my appointment to the School Building Authority.”
Lange requested that Roach forward the email to Brian Abraham, General Counsel to Gov. Justice and chairman of the SBA.
Abraham issued the following statement concerning Lange’s resignation.
“In his email Mr. Lange referred to changes being made that aren’t beneficial to the taxpayers of West Virginia,” Abraham said. “If he is referring to continuing the decades-long practice of backroom deals and private meetings that have taken place, instead of an open, fair and transparent process we are now putting into effect so that every county receives the same treatment and consideration, then we will just have to agree to disagree.”
