Gov. Justice Approves Award of Mileground to Airport Road Project

​CHARLESTON, WV - The West Virginia Department of Transportation, with approval from Gov. Jim Justice, announces that it has awarded another General Obligation Bond project: the Mileground to Airport Road project in Monongalia County.  

Part of Gov. Justice's Roads to Prosperity plan and financed with General Obligation Bonds authorized by the constitutional amendment, the project was awarded to Mountaineer Contractors, Inc. out of Kingwood, WV, with a bid of $8,748,593.01. The project will widen Mileground Road between Donna Avenue and the Roundabout at WV705 to 4 lanes.

Initial work will consist of utility relocation and continued acquisition of right-of-way and is scheduled to begin later this year.  Major construction work is expected to start in the Spring, 2019.​
