Gov. Justice delivers two grant awards in the Northern Panhandle

CHARLESTON, WV — Governor Jim Justice hosted two events in the Northern Panhandle today to present the City of Chester and Hammond PSD (Wellsburg) with two non-federal matching grant awards. Funds were awarded for the following: City of Chester — $425,000 This money is a non-federal match to the $2.5 million grant awarded by the Army Corps of Engineers, which will upgrade the city’s 50-year-old filtration system and modernize its aging water structure. Hammond PSD (Wellsburg) — $1,287,333.33 This money is a non-federal match to the $4.6 million grant awarded by the Army Corps of Engineers, which will be used to replace 12,000 ft of water main lines that are almost 50 years old. The funds will also prevent the monthly water rate for residents from rising.  ###
